At 80, Priscilla Presley FINALLY Exposes Why She Never Married After Elvis

For more than five decades, one question has followed Priscilla Presley: Why did she never marry again after Elvis?

She had relationships after their divorce. She built a successful career of her own. She became a mother again and created a life far beyond Graceland. Yet she never walked down the aisle a second time.

Now, her own words offer a surprisingly emotional answer.

Priscilla and Elvis Presley met in Germany in 1959, married in 1967, and welcomed their only child, Lisa Marie, in 1968. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1973, but their relationship did not simply disappear. They remained connected through Lisa Marie and continued to communicate until Elvis died in 1977.

And according to Priscilla, the divorce did not mean she stopped loving him.

In a 2024 conversation, she explained that she had never stopped loving Elvis, describing him as an extraordinary person while also acknowledging the difficulties that came with being married to someone whose fame was almost impossible to escape. (Biography)

That complicated truth is important.

Their marriage was far from perfect. Priscilla has spoken about Elvis’s infidelity and the enormous pressure his career placed on their relationship. She has explained that she did not leave because she stopped loving him; she needed to discover who she was outside of being Elvis Presley’s wife.

After Elvis, Priscilla did not remain alone.

She had several relationships, including a long-term partnership with Marco Garibaldi. The couple were together for more than two decades and welcomed their son, Navarone, in 1987—but they never married.

So why?

Priscilla has actually given a remarkably direct answer.

During a 2023 appearance connected with Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, she explained that she simply had no desire to marry again. She also said that she believed Elvis would have struggled with the idea and, most memorably, suggested that no one could ever match him. (Vanity Fair)

Those words reveal something deeper than a refusal to remarry.

For Priscilla, Elvis was not merely a famous ex-husband.

He was the person who had shaped the earliest and most important years of her adult life.

There was also something unfinished about their story.

In her more recent memoir, Softly, as I Leave You: Life After Elvis, Priscilla recalled moments after their divorce when the possibility of reconciliation seemed to remain in the background. She has reflected on the fact that they continued to share hopes and dreams even after their marriage ended.

Then came August 16, 1977.

Elvis died suddenly at Graceland.

Priscilla had spoken with him only two days earlier. His death ended any possibility of discovering what their relationship might have become if they had both lived longer. ]

And perhaps that is the most heartbreaking part of all.

Priscilla eventually built a life without Elvis.

But she never completely erased him from it.

She preserved his legacy. She remained connected to Graceland. She raised Lisa Marie. And even decades later, she continued speaking about Elvis with affection, while acknowledging the painful realities of their marriage.

At 80, Priscilla’s story is therefore not really about why she refused to marry again.

It is about why she never felt the need to replace the love she once had.

The marriage ended.

The arguments ended.

The years passed.

But the memories remained.

Elvis was the love of her life—and Priscilla chose to carry that complicated, unforgettable love with her rather than pretend it had never existed.
